Lasso Me The Moon?
So, I’m in the market for a TabletPC. The problem is, nobody has what I want. If I or my employer is paying over $3000 for something, it better damn well be exactly what I want. Sadly, as far as I can tell, nothing in the TabletPC world meets all these expectations, but if you know about something that does, drop me a line.
- Slate Form Factor
- Detachable Keyboard (a la hp tc1100)
- Docking Station with movable “easel”
- Resolution greater than 1024×768
- > 12 Inch Screen
- Transflective Screen
- Bluetooth
- WiFi (802.11b, I don’t care about g, but it’d be nice.)
- > 60 GB 5200 RPM Hard Disk
- Pixel Shader 2.0 capable video card
- 1GB Ram
- Dual-Head capable (through docking station)
- USB 2.0, Firewire
- Mic Array
- SD Card Slot
- 4 Hour Real Battery Life
- Weight Under 5 lbs.
To sum it up, I want a slate tablet, that can hold a keyboard like a laptop, and dock at work with two monitors. Furthermore, it must be powerful enough to run most apps and some basic games while providing a decent battery life.

I would suggest a Fujitsu Stylistic® ST5020. Here are some specs from the Fujitsu website. The battery is suppose to get from 6-9 hours, and the keyboard could be solved by either using on a desk with a bookstand and keyboard in front, or the case which folds a certain way to house both the keyboard and slate in a laptop fashion (Motion has a case like this too). The only tablet with >1024×768 is toshiba and that’s a convertible, however that could be the next best thing if you didn’t mind having a perminent keyboard.
• Intel® Pentium® M Processor Ultra Low Voltage 733 (1.10 GHz, 2 MB L2 cache, 400 MHz FSB)
• Microsoft® Windows® XP Tablet PC Edition 2005
• 12.1″ XGA TFT with indoor wide view display
• 512 MB DDR 333 SDRAM memory (up to 2gb)
• 60 GB 4200 rpm hard drive¹ (up to 80gb)
• Built-in multinational² 56K³ V.90 modem and 10/100/1000 Base-T/TX Ethernet
• Built-in Atheros Super AG™ technology
• Bluetooth wireless PAN
• Integrated Fingerprint reader, imbedded TPM, dedicated Smart Card slot, Fujitsu Security Application Panel
• Dual mic array with IntelliSonic™ noise cancellation software

• M-Code FPCM35183
$2,449
Motion 1400 would also work about the same without the same battery life and without the array mic.
That’s my .02 cents ^_^ Let us know what you decide on. Check out TabletPC2′s tablet comparison chart as well if you get the chance ^_^

Yeah, that one, except it’s screen and video card, looks to be pretty close to what I want. Though, it’s just not enough. Thanks for the suggestions, though.
